John Coduri assumed office as the National Executive Director of the Association of YMCA Professionals, on January 1, 2000, becoming the fourth full-time national leader of AYP. A YMCA Senior Director, John began his Y career in 1969. He joined AYP following sixteen years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Westerly-Pawcatuck YMCA in Rhode Island.
His AYP experiences include serving as a member of the AYP National Board since 1997, AYP Chapter 3 President and Vice President, and Chair of the Northeast Region Albany Conference.
A YMCA member since age 12, John received a bachelor of science degree with a major in Zoology and Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island in 1969. He served in the RI Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975 and was recognized as the Oustanding Trainee in his active duty basic training company.
Among his YMCA volunteer responsibilities, he currently serves as a member of the YMCA University Advisory Board, the Y/USA National Planning Advisory Council and the YMCA Hall of Fame Committee.
John and his wife, Julie, a former teacher, have one daughter, Jennifer, also a Y professional.
