If you or
an AYP member you know has a financial crisis, AYP is ready to help.
For
more than a century the Emergency Assistance Fund has provided financial
aid when an accident, illness, death of a loved one, disaster or other
crisis strikes.
Grants of up to $10,000 are made to active and retired Y professionals,
as well as immediate dependant family members. No individual may receive a grant greater than $10,000 in one year.
The
Fund is supported exclusively by the very people it helps - YMCA professionals.
More than 2,000 active Y professionals and retirees contribute to the
Fund each year.
A presentation
describing the Emergency Assistance Fund is available
in a Powerpoint format. Click

- Applicant
must have been a member of AYP/NAFYR for
the past six full months
(active or retired) or an immediate dependent family member.
- Medical
Expenses - Persons incurring medical expenses beyond provisions
of
their health insurance coverage or other related expenses
which result in an
extreme economic hardship.
- Catastrophe

acts of
nature

Persons who have exercised all of their options
for separation benefits or unemployment insurance, or were

- Emergency
- As the name of the fund implies, the need must have resulted
from an "unforseen
event" and not from an exercise of "personal
choice."

How
to report someone in need, including yourself - Anyone
may request a grant for eligible persons. If you know of someone
in need, simply contact your chapter president; the chapter president passes that informaton on to the Regional Officers. The regional chair will review and sign off on it and either email or fax it on to the AYP National Office. We send it out to the Support Services Committee for review. An approved grant is overnighted to the grantee or requistor seven days after the committee has received it. Questions and/or back-up information will be asked by the committee if the need arises. Back-up information for any grant request is necessary.
If the aid required
does not exceed $500, chapter presidents may
authorize grants and a check is immediately sent from
the AYP Office.
If the need is
greater than $500, the regional chair reviews the request
and refers it to the AYP Support Services Committee for review.
A check is mailed, usually within seven days.
Please use this word version to email; to fax use the PDF option. Thank you.
